Police Want to Make Bike Registration Free

There's just not many bike owners in La Crosse who register their bikes.  Maybe 25 percent, says police sergeant Randy Rank.  Instead of cracking down on those on the mandatory registration deadbeats, police want to try a different approach.  Make the registration free.   Instead of charging the two dollars it is now

Rank says the city auctions off hundreds of stolen or lost bikes every year because a lack of registration means they can't be returned to the rightful owners.
