Lax Symphony Passes Baton To Platt

THE LA CROSSE SYMPHONY HAS SPENT THE LAST YEAR AUDITIONING SIX MEN TO SUCCEED AMY MILLS AS ITS FULL-TIME CONDUCTOR.

AS IT TURNS OUT, THE LAST GUY TO TRY OUT GOT THE JOB. ALEXANDER PLATT HAS BEEN HIRED AS L-S-O MUSIC DIRECTOR, LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER HE CONDUCTED TWO CONCERTS AT VITERBO. THE CHAIR OF THE SEARCH COMMITTEE, JIM GALLAGHER, SAYS CONCERT-GOERS LIKED PLATT. BUT THE COMMITTEE LIKED HIS BUSINESS SAVVY AS WELL AS HIS MUSICAL SKILLS.

PLATT WILL DIVIDE HIS TIME IN WISCONSIN DURING THE YEAR BETWEEN THE LA CROSSE SYMPHONY AND A GROUP HE STARTED...THE WISCONSIN PHILHARMONIC IN WAUKESHA. HIS FIRST ASSIGNMENT AS L-S-O CONDUCTOR WILL BE THE SUMMER POPS CONCERT AT THE OMNI CENTER.
