Ona Leaders May Decide If Fluoride Is Too High

Does Onalaska have too much fluoride in its tap water?

The city board of public works has a review of fluoridation on its monthly agenda tonight. City engineer Jarrod Holter says the fluoride level has been reduced occasionally since the process was approved by the community in the late 80's.  Holter says the level is now .85 parts per million, while the EPA recommends a lower fluoride level of .7 parts. Holter says Onalaska could drop its fluoride to that level if the Wisconsin DNR suggests it. A DNR report on fluoridation is expected soon.
