Council Could Reconsider Budget Moves
La Crosse city council members will get another
kick at the can on the
city's spending plan for next year. The council has
already passed a budget that includes a very modest tax increase, but a
significant majority of the council wants to skip the tax increase and take
about $50 thousand from the city's significant reserve fund to patch budget
holes instead. Mayor Matt Harter had hoped for the same thing but opted
not to veto the spending plan until after the council had a chance to
reconsider the whole 71 million dollar budget. The council will do that at
a meeting tomorrow afternoon.
