Marsh Land Transfer Likely by Spring

A few more months before La Crosse hands over four hundred acres of marsh to the DNR.   The city is following through on a fifteen year-old promise to deed the marsh to the natural resources agency.  But city engineer Randy Turtenwald says the process has been extensive with mapping and legal descriptions needed for 70 city-owned parcels.  Some that need reconfiguration before the DNR will take them

Turtenwald says part of the process also involves strategic planning based on future plans of the DOT to put a north-south road through the marsh.
