Safe Ride Able to Collect More From DOT Funds
A little more help for the La Crosse County Safe Ride Program. A bill just signed by the governor will allow a state DOT fund to send more money to safe ride programs all over the state. But that mostly means La Crosse, says local Tavern League President Mike Brown. He says about one out of five of the Safe Rides in the entire state are in La Crosse county. The new law allows eighty percent matching funds as opposed to the former fifty percent.Brown says the money from the DOT comes not from taxpayers but from a surcharge on OWI tickets.
