Bus Crash In Vernon County

Heavy fog may be to blame for a school bus crash this morning in Vernon County. It happened around 9:20 in the Town of Wheatland.


51 year old Dwight Veglahn of rural Genoa was driving a school bus for Desoto Area Schools, northbound on State Highway 82. As the bus was turning into a church parking lot in heavy fog, it was struck near the rear wheels by a car driven by 47 year old Timothy Fergot of rural Viroqua.

Fergot sustained minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle for medical treatment. There were twelve children ages 7 to 18 on the school bus. Four children reported minor injuries and three were transported by Tri State Ambulance.
