Police were on the trail of a thief.  They wound up with a couple of drug dealers.  La Crosse cops say 23 year-old Nathaniel Cousins and 20 year-old Kelly Kotes have been dealing drugs out of their State street apartment near downtown.  The apartment's in an area that's been plagued by a recent rash of burglaries.  During an investigation into an attempted break-in to the Cousins and Kotes apartment, cops discovered a pretty large stash of drugs.  About 2000 grams of marijuana--including some stuffed inside carmel candies--some psychedelic mushrooms and a couple grand in cash.   Police describe the smell of marijuana at the apartment as "overwhelming."
