Pharmacy Worker Accused of Drug Fraud
A La Crosse pharmacy tech has been busted by cops
for helping herself to
prescription drugs through an elaborate scheme.
Police say 21 year-old Ashley Lane used the prescription computer system at the
northside Shop-Ko in order to file prescriptions with other pharmacies as a
fictitious doctor under a false name. Her bosses finally got wise to the
thefts when they realized she'd been filing the prescriptions using the log-in
identifications of co-workers who weren't actually working. Cops say Lane
filled at least ten prescriptions for a schedule four narcotic over the last
several months. Lane says she was fraudulently filling the prescriptions
because she needs the drugs and can't afford health insurance.
