Hike in Fees Gets No Endorsement from Council Committee

At this point, higher building inspection fees in the city of La Crosse have an iffy chance of success.  A city council committee has split on approving new fees that would go up slightly now but also have automatic annual increases that would be indexed to inflation.  City council member Andrea Richmond says the plan sends the wrong message from city hall about improving properties



Andrea says the continually increasing fees also leads to do-it-yourselfers doing projects without the proper permits.
