Council to Vote on Econonic Incentives for Business
New standards for business development incentives in La Crosse have several goals. The city council this month is expected to vote on plans for new standards that will also create an economic development commission in the city. The standards list a number of priorities for those projects collecting incentives, including just the ability to demonstrate a likelihood of financial success. But also the ability to create jobs, promote the use of mass transit, and upgrade neighborhoods, among other things. The standards dictate that proposals must have exhausted all other forms of financial assistance before getting anything from the city.
