Landlord Wants City to Pay for Police Damage

The city of La Crosse may be on the hook for damages after a drug bust on the south side. Cops used a no-knock warrant to go through the door at a place near 16th and Jackson back in early April. They were looking for a couple of crack dealing brothers and their woman. What they found was thousands of dollars in cash, lots of drugs, guns, ammo. The works. Police also apparently did not enter gingerly. They were, after all, on the trail of armed, drug-dealing felons. The entry team left some damage and the landlord wants the city to pay. Carriage House Properties has submitted a 13 hundred bill for damages to doors, windows and walls.
