Wisconsin to Lose Millions if Army Faces Cuts
"Live by the sword, die by the sword" will
be more than just an
aphorism for some states if cuts are made through
sequester in Washington. The wide ranging, across-the-board cuts will hit
some states that rely heavily on defensive spending particularly hard. If
no agreement is reached in the next several days, defense spending will be cut
overall by $34 billion. $15 billion from the Army alone. That
means over thirty thousand lost jobs and two billion dollars in spending for
Texas which will feel the biggest impact. But, according to the Army,
Wisconsin will also feel the pinch, losing 27 hundred jobs and over 300 million
dollars in spending. Minnesota and Iowa job losses are expected to be
minor due to Army cuts.
