Freezin' For A Reason At Viterbo Tonight

Nearly two dozen college students in La Crosse will spend tonight experiencing what many people go through on the streets every night.

Instructor Tom Thibideau's annual homelessness vigil begins at 6 p.m. in a courtyard at Viterbo. Jordan Blaken is one of the students who will spend the night outside in a large cardboard box. She says a Viterbo class on homelessness has taught her about the high demand for community shelters like the West Avenue warming center and the Salvation Army.  Students also will travel to Milwaukee later in the semester, to study how the homeless live in that city.
