City Hall Preparing for Affordable Care Act Provision
Some temporary and seasonal workers in La Crosse
city hall may see their
hours cut by next year. The federal Affordable
Care Act requires employers to offer health insurance benefits to workers who
put in thirty or more hours per week. The city has employees who work more
than thirty hours per week but do not get benefits. Those employees will
be limited to 29 hour work weeks. Although the changes don't take effect
until next year, the city is working on tackling on definitions for those
employees now.
