Mining Bill Debate Went For Hours Thursday

Assembly GOP Majority Leader Scott Suder said a contentious mining bill that grabbed hours and hours of debate in Madison Thursday could start operating within 3 to 4 years. And he called this perhaps the most important jobs bill we’ve seen in a great long while. Democrats contend the bill will spend that length of time in the court system.

Democrat Evan Goyke of Milwaukee. The bill loosens environmental regulations to make it easier for Gogebic Taconite to open a $1.5 billion dollar iron ore mine in Ashland and Iron counties.
