Scary Monroe County Crash

A scary accident Sunday in Monroe County.

Around 8 Sunday night in the Town of Portland, 53 year old Roxanne Thomson of Cashton lost control of her car on a slushy Highway 27. The car lost control, spun around and hit a snow bank on the West side of the road which caused it to over turn on to its top in the ditch. The ditch was filled with about 2 and half feet of water at the time. Thomson was trapped in her vehicle hanging in her seatbelt. 2 Cashton fire fighters crawled into the freezing water and into the vehicle to free Thomson from the seatbelt.

With the help of other fire fighters and first responders they where able to get Thomson out of the vehicle. Thomson was then transported to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital with life threatening injuries.
