Binge Drinking Costs Wisconsin $7 Billion Per Year
A new statewide study says Wisconsin is number one...in binge drinking.
A group called 'Health First Wisconsin' reports that the Badger State has a higher rate of excessive drinking than any other state. In La Crosse, Brenda Rooney works with the Changing the Culture of Risky Drinking' group. She finds the financial costs of drinking cited in the report to be a bit disturbing. The group's study calculated that alcohol problems cost three billion dollars a year in lost productivity at work...two billion in premature deaths...and half-a-billion dollars in traffic accidents.
