Residency Rules Don't Bother La Crosse County

A compromise was worked out Thursday to keep letting Wisconsin communities tell their public employees where they can live. Joint Finance Committee co chairman John Nygren said that a deal was passed which allows public workers to live within a certain distance of their municipalities. La Crosse County Personnel Director, Bob Taunt says they dealt with this 6 years ago.

He says they abolished the rule expect for those in top positions. ONa  15-4 vote Thursday, only police, fire and emergency workers could be required to live within 15 miles of the city or county where they work under a provision added to the state budget.
