La Crosse Mayor Peeved About Legislature Meddling in Home Rule

Just when municipalities in Wisconsin had figured out a new revenue stream, state lawmakers appear on the brink of taking it away.  The state legislature's budget writing committee has agreed to a measure that would force local governments to cut property taxes by the same amount they raise fees.  More micromanaging from Madison, complains La Crosse mayor Tim Kabat
