La Crosse District To Lose State Aid

General state school aid is based on a complicated funding formula that takes into account student population, property wealth and district spending. The La Crosse School District's Janet Rossitter tries to explain the process.

After their early tabulations, the district is set to lose about $2.5 million next year in state aid. Other Coulee Region districts are in the same boat as well. Total general state aid is down from its peak five years ago of $4.8 billion.
