Furloughs Begin At Fort McCoy

In a part of the state where the military base is the largest employer, $500 billion in sequester cuts in 10 years for the Department of Defense, is cause for concern.

Those who operate Fort McCoy will see approximately 20 percent less in their paychecks thanks to mandated furlough days which have now begun. The civilian employees must take one furlough day every week between now and September 30th. That amounts to 11 days.

Linda Fournier, the Fort McCoy public affairs officer says that amounts to $3.7 million less spent in the area.
