Coming Restrictions to Isle la Plume Access

Getting on and off an island in La Crosse is about to get a little unusual.   At least for awhile.  The city will close down the Niedbalski bridge at Isle la Plume for construction at the end of the month.  The bridge won't re-open until November.   In the meantime, the recently added Cook street bridge will be used as the lone access point on and off Isle la Plume.  The bridge currently is used as a walking and biking access point and for city vehicles when necessary.  That will change when the Neidbalski bridge closes.   The city's traffic engineer says the Cook street bridge will be for alternating one way traffic only and bikers and walker will have to use the smaller bridge at Market street.
