More Frac Action In Minnesota

An early draft of Minnesota frac sand mine regulations, which will now

likely be revised, calls for mining facilities to be located at least 50 feet away from a bluff and 500 feet from homes, schools, churches and public parks. Good news to Johanna Roop-Wrecked with the Land Stewardship Project who brought a slew of public complaints and concerns with her to a public hearing on the issue last week.

Changes will be made to the regulation document based on continued input from local authorities, citizens and industry representatives. This should put on hold, a company's wanting to build 11 more frac sand mines near Winona and Houston counties.
