Fest Keg Will Move...Just Not On All Fours This Year

There may not be a Friday morning parade this week for Oktoberfest, but a

tradition will continue....somewhat. The four horse hitch from 1961 may now be a V-8 engine but otherwise the Oktoberfest tradition of transporting the ceremonial golden keg from the brewery to the fest grounds in some ways will remain the same this year.

2012 Festmaster Brad Sturm and his Grenadier Corps escorts will travel to City Brewery, south of downtown, to meet Brewmaster Randy Hughes. They will then transport him and the ceremonial golden keg in a private vehicle to the Southside Oktoberfest Grounds for the 11 a.m. Opening Day Ceremonies.

The fest grounds will open at 9am on Friday.
