More Info On Sparta Cop Shooting
More information has been released about the officer involved shooting
in Sparta Friday night.
Police say the family of 21 year old John Bartholomew wanted him removed from their home after he was being disruptive and drunk. Police had learned that the man was armed with knives and had threatened the 911 caller and other family members.
Sergeant Booker Ferguson was first on scene and after getting out of squad, Bartholomew approached him with the knives in hand. After repeated commands by the officer to put down the knives, Ferguson shot the man. Other Police officers had showed up and started first aid on the Sparta man. He later died in a Sparta hospital.
