Monroe County Plans Move Ahead

The final design of the future Monroe County Justice Center was revealed at a

special meeting in Sparta last week. Project Manager, Kurt Marshaws says it puts the county in a great position now to start building soon.

The new jail is expected to house 180 inmates and will be laid out in a semi-circle, with a control center that will allow jail staff to monitor inmates at all times. The county is now asking for bids from contractors. The county plans to begin construction on the project in April 2014.
