Businesses Question Ramp Usage

While the city of La Crosse is ready to make money by charging for parking in

ramps, some business people are concerned about how much customers will have to pay.

Merchants and members of the city parking board could not agree this week on an ideal hourly rate for parking, or the length of a grace period.  Andrea Fisher owns the Lark Boutique downtown.  She's heard customers give different reasons why they didn't try to stop and shop:

Fisher tells the board that she would be willing to pay a special tax, to help fund the ramps.  She says daytime shoppers are reluctant to pay too much when they spend time downtown.
