Local Man Makes Own Bad Checks

Sparta Police are trying to track down a man that has made his own

checks that are being circulated throughout the area. The guy is producing fake checks from Guaranty Bank, FDIC with a legitimate routing number, but a false account number. The printed checks have names and driver license numbers that are false and the addresses used are homes that are for sale.

The guy described as a white with a stocky build and about 5’9” tall. He had dark brown hair with some facial hair and was last seen getting into an older green Plymouth Neon. The vehicle was later located in New Lisbon, but the man was not with the car.

Merchants should be cautious when accepting personal checks drawn from Guaranty Bank, FDIC and should attempt to verify the account’s legitimacy.
