State Ballot is Set for November
It never really was much of a race for Ron Johnson. The Republican candidate for senate cruised to an easy victory in Tuesday's primary, receiving 85% of the vote and earning the chance to face Russ Feingold on November's ballot. Scott Walker got the voters' nod over closest challenger and former congressman Mark Neumann. Walker got 59% to Neumann's 39%. Walker and Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett will see each other on the fall ballot. State senator Dan Kapanke had no problem eclipsing the vote totals of Bruce Evers; by a nearly four to one margin, Kapanke won his party's right to battle democrat Ron Kind this fall. And, in a much closer race, Republican Nick Charles edged out Julian Bradley in the primary. It will be Charles who has an opportunity to unseat La Crosse's incumbent state representative, Jennifer Shilling.
