It's Final...Beer And Wine Sales To Commence In Sparta

For the last 50 years, Sparta has been a dry city. Count the years no
longer. An official recount of election day ballots has found that city convenience stores and grocery stores will now be able to sell wine and beer after the referendum measure passed by a count of 757-750. 7 votes.
City Clerk, Julie Hanson tells us that those stores wanting to sell the items may do so in about 60 days.
This is the 5th time since 2005 that voters had been asked to reverse the ban. Past referendums had also asked for the sale of liquor as well. But not this time.
