Grief counselors were on hand at Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School this morning as a student there has been identified as the person struck by a train Friday evening near Trempealeau.

Superintendent David Grace tells WIZM news that students were told of the 17-year-old's death and offered opportunities to talk with school counselors and other staff. The student was a senior and a member of the Redhawks football team. 

The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department has not released further details, but are expected to in the morning.
