On Saturday, Tomah Police were told that two men, 38 year old Jesus Sanchez of Texas and and 31 year old Danny Mercado of Illinois were going to be in the Camp Douglas and Tomah area with a large amount of cocaine to be distributed. Additional information indicated that the two had been selling cocaine in the Tomah, Lacrosse, Wilton, and Camp Douglas areas.

Detectives were able to make arrangements with Sanchez and Mercado to deliver 10 ounces of cocaine to an undercover officer in Tomah. The agreed upon price was $10 thousand. Sanchez delivered 8 ounces of cocaine to the undercover officer in the City of Tomah. He was then arrested. Mercado was located and arrested a short time later in the vicinity of where Sanchez was arrested. A search of Mercado resulted in a motel key being located. A search of the motel room resulted in locating an additional 21 ounces of cocaine and $13 thousand cash. The street value of 29 ounces of cocaine is approximately $82 thousand.

This case remains under investigation.
