Justice Center Back on Table
The Monroe County Building Committee Friday recommended constructing a proposed justice center in downtown Sparta in one phase as opposed to a phased project.
The majority of the committee believed it would be more expensive to build the project in two phases, beginning with a 180-cell jail, and followed later by an addition for courtrooms and a remodeling of the courthouse.
The estimated the cost of a total build project is at $29 million, including land acquisition.
