Sewer Rate Hike Approved
About a buck a month. That's how much an approved sewer rate increase would add to the typical homeowner's bill in La Crosse and a few other communities served by the city's wastewater utility. The roughly ten percent rate increase gets approval by the city's board of public works Monday on the advice of a rate consultant. The consultant's report says that, while the utility has some of the lowest rates in the state and is debt free, it also will run out of cash to tackle routine maintainence projects without a rate hike. The rate increase will take effect in 2015.
