Prescription Drug Concerns Amonst Older Folks

It's not just young people using prescription drugs that has area health

professionals worried. There's also an effort to monitor older residents for possible abuse of medicines.  The Heroin Task Force of La Crosse and county officials have been training doctors and others in the health system to watch out for people age 50 and older trying to obtain large amounts of painkillers.  Al Bliss from the county health department says many older patients may have become hooked on drugs they took after surgery, and they look for doctors who can keep them supplied with those drugs.
