Fort McCoy Soldier Dies In Iraq

A solider whose family lives in Tomah is dead and an incident in Iraq has the Department of Defense still investigating. 36-year-old Staff Sgt. Loleni Gandy died November 19th in Balad, Iraq, in what the Department of Defense calls a non-combat related incident.

Staff Sgt. Gandy's body returned to the United States Saturday at the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

Gandy, who is from Pago Pago, American Samoa, was assigned to the 103rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command in Des Moines, Iowa.

Gandy was formerly stationed at Fort McCoy.
