Stop the Whistles in Brice Prairie

A discussion on Train Whistle Quiet Zones on Brice Prairie will be held tonight at the Town Hall in Onalaska. At hand.....stopping the blaring whistles, which can be heard almost every 40 minutes.

Town Chair David Paulder says some residents have already done some homework on the Federal Railroad Administration's rules on quiet zones and some further digging is needed. The FRA passed the new laws back in 2003.

If and when the law is enacted in Brice Prairie, one major change that will be seen is at intersections where crossing arms will be replaced with fully lengthened ones.....that way people can't zip in and around them. The meeting is at 6:30 in Town Hall.
