"Smoke" Reappears, Busted on Two Year-Old Charge

When you promise police to help them out to stay out of trouble, best to follow through. A course of action apparently lost on Alan Laughlin. La Crosse guy, nicknamed "Smoke." A couple years ago, police nabbed Smoke for dealing pot. Said, if they let him go, he'd help cops bust a dealer higher up the food chain . Never did. So, when police caught up to the 34 year-old Laughlin a few days ago, he wasn't surprised that he'd have to face up to that two year old drug dealing charge. At the time of his original arrest, Laughlin claimed the several bags of pot he had on him were for personal use.
