A 5 year old boy is recovering at a Madison area hospital after being hit by a car yesterday. Sparta Police were called out to Highway 16 West, near the Sparta city limits around 4:45pm.

The boy had been snowboarding nearby prior to the accident. Due to the extent of his injuries, the boy was transported to Franciscan/Skemp Hospital in Sparta and then by helicopter to La Crosse. The child was later transported to a Madison area hospital.

The driver,a 17 year old, from Rockland was not injured. The crash remains under investigation by the Sparta Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol.
