Rockland Plans Next Move After Playground Fire
They have a playground to rebuild...
Village leaders in Rockland are discussing ideas for repairing or replacing the playground in Gaylord Park that was burned down over the weekend. The village's park committee will meet at the park tonight to view the damage. The 25-thousand dollar playground equipment just installed last fall was ruined by a fire, allegedly set last Saturday night by three teenagers.
Neumann Will Focus on Debt in Candidacy for US SenateMark Neumann has lots of reasons to run for Wisconsin's US Senate seat next year. 14 trillion of them, actually. The former congressman is making the nation's burgeoning $14 trillion debt and dealing with it the cornerstone of his campaign. It doesn't appear to Neumann that anyone in Washington understands the basic principle that you can't continually spend more money than you have without running into trouble. Neumann, a republican, is the first to declare a candidacy for the seat being vacated by Herb Kohl next year. Shelby Considering Tunneling Under HighwayTown of Shelby could be sticking some serious money underground soon. In conjunction with a DOT re-do of highway 33, the town is preparing plans to help pedestrians get across the highway.
Shelby town administrator Jeff Brudos says the potential options include a pedestrian tunnel that would go underneath 33 at Hagen road. It's all talk at this point, but Brudos says the idea merits consideration. Estimated cost: five hundred to seven hundred thousand dollars. 19 Year-Old Has Underage Ticket, Fun Story, Tazer WoundsHow does a couple of beers at a party turn into a trip to jail? You can ask 19 year-old Derrick Scott who, if nothing else, at least has a heckuva story to tell about his first underage drinking ticket. La Crosse cops responded to a loud party near downtown on Friday and found Scott relieving himself outside with a red cup of beer in his hand. It was just a simple ticket that Scott was facing. Right up until he wrestled the cop to the ground, in the process losing his shirt and getting tazed. On the way to lock-up, Scott said he had to "chance" getting away because he didn't want to risk getting busted for underage drinking. Book Booked AgainLa Crosse's most infamous mother is back in trouble. Indra Book was nabbed by cops walking into a bar Sunday night. Book was convicted in the death of her infant child back in 2007. She spent time in a halfway house and has repeatedly flirted with prison time after a series of arrests usually involving alcohol and drugs. Cops say the 23 year-old was drinking Sunday, in violation of the probation sentence she began serving just last summer. That probation was nearly revoked last winter after getting arrested several times, including once for attacking her boyfriend. |
