Amid conventions, concerts, and the occasional bull riding show, the La Crosse Center has been known to host corporate Christmas parties.
But that business apparently isn't as big as it used to be. During a center board meeting yesterday, building manager Art Fahey told the board that one local company which traditionally had holiday parties at the Center has decided to downscale the event, and move to a smaller venue. Fahey says the company thought a big party might send the wrong message. Fahey says the Center is still open to hosting large corporate events for Christmas...if companies choose to have them.
Now that the campaign season is over, some people involved in La Crosse area politics are ready to play Santa.
Republican Julian Bradley and Democrat Andrew Londre have joined forces for a non-partisan toy drive...getting 'Together for Toys.' They're asking for donations to Toys for Tots. Bradley says the toys can be taken to the Black River Beach Community Center. The collection drive runs through this Friday.
Fees charged to Oktoberfest by city hall next year seem likely to
