A lockdown has been declared at two northeast Iowa schools after gunfire this morning...
The two South Winneshiek Schools, in Calmar and Ossian, are closed while police search for someone who fired a gun in Ossian around the time that classes would have started. Buses carrying students to the schools have been sent to 'crisis areas' while the lockdown is in effect. The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department is looking for the people who fired the weapons.

Jeffrey Lepsch is jailed in Winona, following his arrest last week for the shooting deaths of Paul and A-J Petras. La Crosse District Attorney Tim Gruenke is ready to charge Lepsch with four criminal counts, once Minnesota agrees to transport him to La Crosse County. If Lepsch does not fight extradition to Wisconsin, the process could move more quickly. A Winona judge set bail for Lepsch at 10-million dollars cash last week.
