A La Crosse woman faces charges after taking some money from a hotel. Police say the 22 year-old is staying at the Affordable Inn on the northside. They say the owner of the Affordable got video of the woman taking the money out of his cash register last week. Apparently the woman used the same wad of cash to pay some of what she owed on her hotel bill there. Police say she admitted the crime and called the theft a "lapse in judgement."
If you ask lawmakers, chances are they'll tell you they're in favor of making a crime of first time drunk driving in Wisconsin. Unfortunately, says John Vose with the Wisconsin chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, costs of changing the law make the idea not such a winner
Which means the idea is likely a non-starter again this year in Madison. Wisconsin is the only state that treats a first time drunk offense as more of a traffic ticket than a crime.
Going into today's caucus voting in Iowa, the Republican presidential candidate field looks pretty wide open. Expect that to narrow considerably after today, says La Crosse republican party chair Bill Feehan. Although he declined to offer his prediction for who might finish first today
Iowa is the first state to take part in the presidential nominating process. Wisconsin's presidential primary won't happen until April.
Seems as though someone did not get any new cars for Christmas so they decide to steal their own. Sparta Police are looking for two cars that were stolen over the weekend, during two separate incidents.
One is a Teal colored 1993 Geo Prizm with a Minnesota license plate...the other a Silver colored 1998 Chevrolet Malibu with a Wisconsin.
Both vehicles were taken from residences on the west side of Sparta.
