Gas Station Robber Sought

Written by

Video surveillance may prove key in solving a robbery in La Crosse on Thursday.

Police say the Clark station on Rose street was robbed at about three in the afternoon. A guy demanded money, pushed the store clerk out of the way, grabbed some cash and took off. Witnesses saw the guy run away. Police recovered a weapon at the scence and they say they're reviewing surveillance video of the crime. In the meantime, cops are searching for a white male, approximately 5 7 and thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black stocking cap, sunglasses, dark colored pants and black shoes with white stripes. No work on how much cash the perp grabbed from the store.

A Wisconsin appeals court rejects a claim of courtroom bias in a La Crosse County drunk driving case...

The appeals judges have ruled that La Crosse Judge Ramona Gonzalez was not biased when she sentenced Jesse Herrmann to 31 years in prison for a Highway 35 crash that killed a young woman. Herrmann argued that Gonzalez showed bias at the sentencing hearing in 2011, when she spoke about losing a sister years earlier in a drunk-driving accident. The appeals court calls it a 'close case,' but rules that it's common for circuit judges to speak in court about cases in which they were victims. They said it shows that a judge understands the severity of a case, and can identify with the victims.
