Woman Facing Charges After Baby Dies

Written by

A Monroe County woman is facing charges of neglecting a child causing death. Cops say 25 year old Cathy Mingus of Norwalk gave birth to a baby girl December 22nd. The woman is accused of neglecting the baby, which was found dead in a bathroom sink by emergency services.

Mingus told police she didn't know she was pregnant and gave birth to the baby into the toilet bowl. She said she fished the child out and performed CPR on the baby on the floor for 30 minutes.

Police say an autopsy showed the child had signs of being alive when born. The report said a frothy substance found coming from the child’s nose is consistent with a drowning victim.

The search for a missing La Crosse man has ended, after two weeks...

The body of Andrew Kingsbury was discovered underwater Sunday afternoon, a few hundred feet from where an SUV went into the Mississippi at Winona on January 5th. Kingsbury and two childhood friends from Lanesboro were passengers in the vehicle, driven by a Winona woman. The other three victims of the crash were recovered during the first two days of the search.

They didn't have very far to move physically...but the number of people who had to be moved made a new hospital opening in La Crosse a major operation.

Rooms inside the Legacy Building at Gundersen were filled with patients, as the transfer from the old hospital space took several hours on Sunday. In the command center at the new building, hospital administrator Jan DeHaan was overseeing the relocation of patients and equipment.  DeHaan says it took a year or two to figure out how the entire move could be performed in just one day.
