Shane Henry of Holmen is charged with second-degree sexual assault and strangulation. Bond for Henry is set at 10-thousand dollars cash.
Another man charged with two assaults is being let out of jail, since he has no prior record. But the prosecution wanted a cash bond for 26-year-old Kevin Koster. Koster's attorney admits that alcohol could have contributed to the crimes, which may have involved Koster and up to four other people after a visit to a bar.
Heavy fog may be to blame for a school bus crash this morning in Vernon County. It happened around 9:20 in the Town of Wheatland.
51 year old Dwight Veglahn of rural Genoa was driving a school bus for Desoto Area Schools, northbound on State Highway 82. As the bus was turning into a church parking lot in heavy fog, it was struck near the rear wheels by a car driven by 47 year old Timothy Fergot of rural Viroqua.
The longest-serving inmate now in the La Crosse County jail is set to be tried for homicide in March...or maybe April.
Cain Moss has been in jail for 17 months, since being arrested for the drug-related death of Anthony Du Charme. Today, Moss's attorney, Candice Tlustosch, said in court that she plans to seek more testing on autopsy samples from Du Charme. That testing could delay the planned March 18th start of the trial. Moss is charged with reckless homicide for giving drugs to Du Charme, and with concealing the man's body on a hillside.
