A solution to an Oktoberfest dilemma could be reached today. Representatives from the fest board and the city meet to discuss thousands of dollars in new fees the city wants from the board for its parades. The board has suspended planning for its parades in response. Expectations from today's talks? We asked fest executive director, Tina Severson
Severson also wants to settle the fee issue not just for this year's fest but for upcoming years as well.
La Crosse lawmaker, Jennifer Shilling, is not happy with the shape that Wisconsin is in. And the democratic Senator shared her displeasure with WIZM news.
And Shilling says major initiatives dealing with access to venture capital and mining reform have failed to pass as a result of the unwillingness by Republican legislators to find reasonable compromises. She say that has got to change next year.
We've heard for quite some time now that Holmen needs a new library and it's in the works. But Village President, Nancy Proctor, says that's not the only thing needed right now.
And with a $10 million budget set by the village board recently and demolition of some property on tap for this summer......a new police station and new public works garage are all beyond just a vision now for village leaders.
Familiar faces have been named deans of two colleges and the director for the school of education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Bruce Riley has been named dean of the College of Science and Health; Bruce May has been appointed dean of the College of Business Administration; and Marcie Wycoff-Horn has been named director of the School of Education.
Riley came to UW-L in 1985 as an assistant professor in. He was promoted to professor in 1993. He chaired the Mathematics Department and was appointed interim dean of the college. He became permanent dean in early February. May has been appointed CBA dean for an interim period, July 2012 through the 2014-15 academic year. A national search for a dean will occur during the 2014-15 academic year. He previously served as CBA interim dean for two years. He has been associate dean for eight years.
Wycoff-Horn, who has served as interim director of the School of Education for the past two years, was named permanent director of the
school earlier this month following a national search.
As the La Crosse school district continues to hammer away at creating a new employee handbook, not only are the t's being crossed and the I's dotted....but single words are getting attention.
Superintendent Randy Nelson, says working back and forth with the La Crosse Education Association to make sure everything is out in the open for teachers and staff though the process...has been the biggest help.
