Scammers are out and about again....this time on Facebook. According to the Tomah Police Department, several alerts from concerned citizens have come in about people attempting to sell prescription medications on Facebook, specifically the Tomah Buy, Sell, Trade Facebook page.
According to police, the majority of these people selling prescription drugs are either using fictitious accounts or are generated from a foreign country.
It's good practice to simply ignore these posts. If someone is in need of medication it is recommended they seek counsel from a licensed physician. Police want you to continue to report these pages as they research each one to determine if there are any actions they can take.
A man clings to life today in La Crosse after a beating yesterday at the hands of a jealous ex-boyfriend. La Crosse police say the 33 year-old was repeatedly bludgeoned in the head by Thomas Beitlich while the victim slept. Cops say the 31 year-old Beitlich kicked in the door of his ex-girlfriend's place on Ferry street and beat the victim 15 to 20 times in the head with something big and hard, apparently. Cops say, if the victim survives, he will likely have some significant brain damage. Cops are looking for Beitlich and think that he may still be in the area.
A 21-year-old man from Sparta was shot and killed by police in that city this weekend...
Police are not releasing many details about the Friday incident, but they say an officer shot the man after he had threatened family members with a knife. It happened in the one thousand block of South Fairway Drive in Sparta. The officer is on administrative leave, while the shooting is being investigated.
