Three months ago, a La Crosse judge ordered a new mental evaluation of sex offender Chad Schroeder (SHRAY-der), who might be committed as a 'psychopath.' Judge Dale Pasell wanted the report done by the end of July. Now, July is over, but the judge said in court today that the state mental institute didn't get the word that he wanted a report. Pasell says he's ready to sign an order for a new evaluation. Today at the New Directions luncheon, held at the Lunda Center on Western Technical College’s campus, Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Secretary Scott Baumbach and Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation CEO Paul Jadin discussed the success of Governor Scott Walker’s initiatives to open Wisconsin up to new business development and increase employment opportunities for Wisconsin residents.
Baumbach says Governor Walker’s reforms are working and as he has traveled the state he hears the same thing.....businesses are hiring and people are looking for and finding solid jobs that support working families. Jadin says that businesses across the country are taking notice of Governor Walker’s leadership on job creation.
Employment data for the month of June shows a gain of close to 13 thousand private-sector jobs, the largest one-month increase since September 2003. Additionally, since Governor Walker took office, Wisconsin has created approximately 39,300 private-sector jobs, or over 25% of the jobs that were lost during the recession. Manufacturing has also seen an increase so far this year.....the largest 6-month gain since 1995.
